Obsession beats discipline - go all-in on your craft until you either die or get reborn.
Performative people do nothing real
Evidence
A class of people exists who act and post like they do the thing but do not actually do the thing. Their output is self-promotion, not creation. The performance substitutes for the work.
Implication
Learn to identify performative people and avoid them. Evaluate based on shipped work, not stated intentions or produced content about working. Portfolio over persona.
Counter Belief
Some documentation of work is necessary and valuable. Building in public has genuine benefits. The line between performative and authentic is sometimes blurry.
Example Application
Influencer posting about the grind but has not shipped anything in years. Recognize the pattern and weight their advice accordingly - which is to say, not at all.
